Job Description: Caregiver
Helen’s Home Health employs caregivers who are compassionate, proactive, and dedicated to serving others. Caregivers provide a wide range of personal care and support, in a client’s home, to a variety of people, in 8-hour shifts or overnight shifts lasting up to four days . Caregivers generally work with seniors, people recovering from surgery, disabled adults, and veterans.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Arrive to client’s home on time to provide effective and compassionate care.
- Assist clients with daily personal living activities including bathing and grooming.
- Plan and prepare client meals while monitoring special dietary needs.
- Provide effective medication reminders to client based on doctor’s orders.
- Provide basic housekeeping functions.
- Work with transportation professionals to make sure that client is able to arrive and leave locations safely.
- Review and report any important changes in the patient’s condition.
- Provide effective Companion Care.
- Maintain home care records that include any changes in doctor’s orders, diet or personal living activities.
- Deliver weekly reports to other caregiving staff and manager.
- Other duties as needed in consultation with the supervisor to ensure effective care and safety of the client.
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of one year of successful caregiver experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong personal or professional references
- Ability to reside onsite for shifts of 2-4 days (if applicable)
- Must have cell phone for use while working
- Proof of negative or inactive TB test
- Proof of current auto insurance (for drivers)
- Successfully completed criminal background checks
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
